NOTICE OF RACE

Rules This regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing, RRS, for 2013 – 2016, including the US Sailing Prescriptions, and the Rules and Specifications and By-Laws of the International Y-Flyer Yacht Racing Union.


Eligibility The International Championship Regatta is open to all current members of the AYFYRA and CYFYRA who have met all the registration requirements.

Fees The regatta entry fee is $200. A $5 discount will be provided to current members of US or Canadian Sailing Association. Entries received or postmarked after July 8, 2014 will incur an additional $25 late entry fee. Send all completed registration forms and checks made payable to:

The race committee may modify the above schedule depending on weather conditions and time. No race will begin after 3:00 pm on Thursday July 31 if three or more races have been completed.

Number of Races A total of twelve races are scheduled.


Scoring for the regatta will be in accordance with the By Laws of the Y-Flyer International Union. When fewer than six races have been completed, a skipper’s score will be the total of all race scores. When six or more races have been completed, a skipper’s score will be the total of race scores excluding the worst score.

Junior Fleet Series, Challenger Fleet Series and Senior National Championship yachts shall have a single starting sequence. Boats registered in either the Senior Championship or Challenger Fleet Series will be scored together as a group, and will be eligible for Championship fleet prizes. Boats registered in the Challenger fleet that do not receive a Championship prize will also be scored separately as a group and will be eligible for Challenger fleet prizes.


Trophies will be awarded to regatta finish positions 1 – 5 Senior’s Fleet

1 trophy for Challenger Fleet (3 boats minimum declared at registration)

1 trophy for Junior’s Fleet (3 boats minimum declared at registration)

1 trophy for Women’s Fleet (3 boats minimum declared at registration)

Fleets will sail together but be scored separately

The Old Salt award for the skipper with the highest combined skipper and crew age, minus the regatta final finish position.


Weighing,Measuring and Safety Check All boats must meet all measurements outlined in the International Y-Flyer Specifications and Restrictions. Spinnaker sails are permitted. All safety equipment outlined in Article III Section J of the Y-Flyer Specifications and Restrictions will be checked.

The organizing authority, the Saratoga Lake Sailing Club, SLSC members, and/or SLSC Board members will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with, prior to, during, or after the regatta.

This is a special arrangement with the manager. You must ask for Megan and mention my name (John Smith) to get the rate. Book early, they fill completely for the track season. You can always cancel.


This week is the second week of the Saratoga Flat Track horse racing season. Room rates in Saratoga double to triple, even at the local motels which are booked from year to year. Rooms will go for $200.00 to $600.00 per night. The club has some members willing to host a guest for the regatta. Please contact John Smith. Camping is available at SLSC with showers in the men’s and women’s changing room. SLSC also has an outside lake temperature shower. John Smith has a camper at SLSC with an outside private shower.

No activities are planned for Wednesday evening. Club racing is at 6:30 for those who want to participate. Below is a list of restaurants catering to your gastronomical delicatessen epicurean delight. Not listed are the usual fare of fast food restaurants that are available at Highway 9 and I-87. Grills are available at the club house for those who so choose.
